What I'm buying for Spring

The tree outside my window is budding and temps are steadily creeping into the 50s, it’s finally starting to feel like spring here in New York and I’m celebrating by doing a little online shopping.

My personal style hasn’t changed very much over the years, I still find myself regularly wearing clothes I purchased almost ten years ago (crazy right?). Investing in pieces that offer longevity has been an overarching goal of mine when it comes to shopping for new additions to my wardrobe. Whenever I add new pieces to my closet, I try to select things that I think will stand the test of time. There is something about “dated” looks that feels icky to me - one reason I hesitate to accept new trends.

Let’s be real here, there are plenty of trends on this list and in my closet like wide leg denim and knot front tops. When I do finally hop on board with a trend I tend to go for more toned down versions of whatever that may be so that I can easily style them with what I already have in my closet, hopefully for years to come!

Here’s a peek at what's in my cart and on my spring wishlist… some of which may already be hanging in my closet:
I loved the raffia version of these slides/mules last summer and with some luck recently scooped them up for a steal. This white leather pair is equally as pretty. I love that they can easily be dressed up or down and pair well with everything from jeans to dresses.

I picked this pair of espadrilles up early last month. I love the two shades of beige and think the fringe is a fun detail that isn’t too much that they stop being neutral.
Castaner has been my go to for espadrilles since I bought my first pair a few years ago. I wore my white pair all over Italy last summer (we did a lot of walking - more walking than I thought possible as a New Yorker who walks everywhere on a day to day). They were even comfortable enough to walk all day up and down the winding roads of Positano. If that doesn’t say something I don’t know what does.

I bought this jacket to replace a similar one I had after the lining ripped. In-between weather jackets are tricky in New York. Some years you only have a two week window where you can wear these things without being too cold or melting, other years you take your winter coat off and it’s summer, etc. I haven’t gotten to wear it out and about yet, but I think it will be one of those versatile pieces that goes with everything and seems light enough that I could get away with tossing it on on coolers nights in the summer. I have big plans to pair it with a white eyelet top I picked up from Sezane a while back.

* A quick note on sizing: Size up, especially if you are planning to layer with a sweater on cooler days as it’s weirdly tight across the chest. I didn’t even bother trying my regular size after reading the reviews and opted to order a small instead.

This one is currently in my cart. Lately I’ve been loving all of the basketweave and raffia textures. After a long winter it feels so fresh and inviting. While my husband thinks this one resembles a picnic basket more than a purse, I’m still a fan.

White denim is something I always gravitate towards but am routinely hesitant about stepping out in. I’m trying not to let the “what ifs” of wearing white pants win. The button front is nice change of pace and a bit of a throwback (we’re in the ‘90s again, right?) while the frayed hem has a fun beachy vibe. I’m planning to pair them with a cream sweater and those pearl slides for a casual weekend look.

Another one that is currently in my cart. I love the wide leg trend and after an extensensive search for the perfect pair in white denim have landed on these. Why are they still in my cart? I’m still a bit skeptical since it’s a trend (one that appears to be sticking around for a while by the way) and while I love this look on everyone else, I don’t know if it’s “me” enough without a coupon code.

Currently in my cart, I’ve been eyeing this White + Warren travel wrap for a year now. Full honestly here, it’s pricey, which is my hangup. I keep saying that I’m going to pick it up for our next trip but being that we haven’t exactly booked one I’ve been holding off.
I’m such a huge fan of scarves and wraps year round, they especially come in handy during those in between months when there’s still a chill in the air. I could picture myself wearing this with the Madewell jacket, sipping a glass of wine on a rooftop somewhere!

I picked these up last month after applying the Marie Kondo method to my closet and realizing that I really needed to up my pajama game. I love the cute little palm print on these and they are SO soft! They are a bit sheer though, if I bought another pair I would definitely opt for a darker color where it would be less of an issue.

I bought these for myself for Mischa’s birthday (which was March 9th, she would have turned thirteen this year). I wanted to commemorate the day with something I thought she would love. Whenever I had any kind of jewelry out she wanted it, especially anything sparkly or colorful and these bracelets fit the bill.
These were sold as a set of two on Shopbop but are sadly now sold out in this colorway but they do have a few other options. I absolutely love this cream and gold set! They are however still available through Shashi. You can find them here: Blue & Orange, Gold

I seriously cannot get enough of lightweight sweaters. I wear them year round, which is likely why they appeal to me so much. I recently picked this one up (on sale!) to add to my collection and cannot wait to wear with my favorite denim shorts and the pearl slides.

From the looks of it, it's going to be a very neutral looking spring over here, which knowing me is hardly a surprise. What's currently in your cart and on your wishlist?
