back in the swing

Many people consider Labor Day the official end of summer, but here in the "Big Apple" for example, we're still baking. And will be up until November. As the remaining days of summer trickle to a close I've found myself eyeing loose swingy dresses, reminiscent of earlier times. I really do admire the fun retro silhouettes of the 1960s and '70s that have been creeping back onto the racks, but this style for one, has never been a friend to my figure. Unless of course I want to make myself look bigger.
one  / two / three

Sézane's Fall - Winter collection has captured my attention and sold out almost immediately. I swear, I clicked refresh for an hour waiting impatiently for a blouse to become available in my size. These three dresses are what I'm aiming for this Fall. A sweet and simple '60s silhouette with clean white trim. A swingy wear anywhere little black dress. And ladylike '70s inspired non separates. I could easily see Olivia Wilde donning any of these in The Longest Week with side swept bangs and the perfect cat eye. (See here for reference.) Can you guess what haircut I'm craving for the new season?

So what do you think? How are you feeling about this trend?

  4. Gorgeous dresses, nice and lightweight while it's still hot but also perfect for the cooler days. It'll be a good 2-3 months before I can think about fall clothes :-P

  5. So simple and chic!! It's hard to imagine that within a month, tights and long sleeves will be back in rotation. And I love the side swept bangs. You'd look great with that hair style :)

  7. In love! Couldn't agree more about this trend. I have unfortunately started the search for high waisted, wide leg jeans... potentially an endless search, but oh well. I'm also convinced I'll be wearing these in the engagement photos to come. Normal, yes?

  8. I love the 70's trend but I agree, not very flattering on me. I like the second dress, super cute and the back is fun! I love navy for the fall!
