stars + stripes

When dressing for the fourth I like to feel patriotic without being over the top or costume-y. Usually I stick to solids and stripes. I think last year I wore a navy and white striped tank, a pair of jeans, and red nails and lips. It was one of those overcast, gloomy days that have been making too many appearances lately. I'm not quite sure what our plans are going to be this year so I compiled a somewhat transitional look. I've said it about a hundred times by now but I can never get enough poppy red. Never. I'd pair this silky white anchor print top with a bright brush stroke striped skirt with matching heels that tie at the ankles. (I have been absolutely obsessed with these shoes since spotting them on Farfetch about a month ago.) Red, white, and blue that can be worn anywhere and doesn't need to be reserved for special occasions. I suppose technically it would be anchors and almost stripes, but you get the idea. I'd top it off with a neutral handbag and fresh white nail polish.

Happy first day of July! What are you planning for the 4th?

  1. Now this is a look I can 100% get behind!! Can we just talk about those heels?! Actually, no words are needed.

I am the same way that I don't like to rock the flag or look like I just got out of the parade, instead sporting my colors in a more "everyday" way. I love that all of these pieces can be remixed all throughout the season and beyond.

  2. Obsessing over that skirt! SO pretty! I agree with you, I don't like being over the top or super patriotic (if that makes sense). I try to do the 4th more subtle but still cute! Love this look!

  3. I couldn't agree with you more! It's so hard when it comes to the fourth because everyone wants to look so over the top patriotic! I always like to make it look more everydayish! Loving this post! Happy July!
