I have had this dress since 2006 maybe, 2007? It's been a long time, almost ten years regardless. I once wore it New Years Eve in Tortola. Way back then I used to feel much more comfortable wearing things this short, my legs used to look smaller. It was a time when I was very young and felt okay about the cheeky swimsuit bottoms that now make me feel like I might be offending someone. Don't mistake this for false modesty or a desperate plea for compliments, I've made peace with myself, I'm just saying. It's funny how back then, I remember, especially in high school, not seeing the big deal about wearing things shorter than your fingertips. I recently ordered a dress that fell to this length and when I tried it on, JD commented that there is no way in hell I'd wear it outside without pants. Well surprise, surprise, I still love pulling this number out every once in a while. Not as much as I used to, but I figure there's only a small amount of time left before I go full puritan. My favorite Halloween costume after all is Amelia Earhart. Only the bottom half of my face is exposed if I have the goggles down. Oh, and I returned that dress. I'm just no longer comfortable with the possibility of flashing my ass in public, not that I ever was, Amelia costume for reference. I do still love this dress though. Usually I wear it with boots or flat sandals to balance it out a bit but this time I changed things up with heeled sandals and my favorite old clutch.

Happy Monday, thank you so much for reading!

  1. Girl, I know exactly what you mean! I have this black crochet dress that I LOVED but it was super short and I used to wear it all the time and then this year I put it on and was like "there is no way Im wearing this in public" so I finally got rid of it. Its amazing how your mentality changes as you get older. Love this dress though! Its so cute and love the sandals with it!

  6. Full puritan hahahaa.

Even though it is short, something about the loose fit makes up for it and it still looks darling!!

  11. Wow impressive to have had a dress for so long! I think I have one in my closet that has somehow survived since 2007. I totally feel you on the fingertip thing, I used to wear minis all the time and now I would NEVER wear something shorter than my finger tips.

  15. So true! It's funny how your style changes when you get older. I remember a day where I barely had any shirts that covered my belly button and now I won't even wear crop tops to the gym. I still rock short shorts but they aren't nearly as short as they used to be. Love that dress! Very cute.
