lbd + blanket scarf

I read an article last week that I now cannot find anywhere that offered up tips on how to style yourself in that effortlessly elegant way that Parisian women have mastered. From memory it talked about simple black blazers and jeans and classic handbags without bold identifying labels, but the one thing that has been stuck on my mind since has been scarves. I love scarves. I probably have too many of them taking up space in my closet, but they're a good thing to have too many of in my book. They are easy, you can throw one on over a plain shirt or dress and create an entirely new look. The article was more focused on their warmth. I agree, especially when it comes to this cozy blanket scarf trend I'm loving so much. They are perfect for wrapping around yourself on those in-between days where you don't quite need a jacket.

For a more casual day to night look I knotted this pretty cream and wine colored blanket scarf from Zara over a simple little black dress (last seen here) and paired them with heeled ankle boots, and a classic black handbag.

  1. Hey dear, you look great, i love the way you wearing your scarf. so inspiring. I am Royal Wang, would you like to follow each other? do not be shy let me know

  2. I really love the way you wrapped yours - I find that is the hardest part for me...need to watch a youtube tutorial LOL!! I think you're going to get so much use out of all the scarves you have - I mean it will be cold here shortly and they look so cozy!! Great outfit girl!

  3. I asked my fiancé to grab my Zara blanket scarf from home and bring it to me at work (i was chilly!) … and when he arrived, he literally was like WHAT IS THIS CONTRAPTION. Men ;) The blanket scarf seriously is so warm and functional, yet so chic. Love the way you wore yours!

  7. That blanket scarf! I've seen them all over Pinterest! I love that you paired it with a simple black dress so it really stands out!

  8. You look gorgeous!!! I always go by the mantra, "less is more." That's why I love Parisian style...it's so understated and effortlessly chic. When I worked at Calypso, all the French women in the office only had a handful of pieces that they wore on repeat but they were always well constructed timeless items that could segue from day to night and season to season. You styled this look perfectly. And these photos along the Hudson at sunset are incredible!

  9. I have a bit of an obsession with scarves. This one is perfection!! You look gorgeous.

  16. lynds, these pictures are gorgeous!! you look incredible and i love the simplicity of the outfit with the addition of the scarf (tres chic) and that area is always one of my favorites to visit when i make it to the city. i can never stop snapping pictures, the sunsets are always incredible over the water!

funny fact: when i studied abroad in italy i noticed that they always dressed really warmly and even when it was pretty nice out they always had a scarf on. i asked my teacher and she made a motion of hitting her neck and said this phrase which she translated to "whips of wind". apparently the europeans have this belief that if the wind hits their neck that they will get sick! not sure if it just a wive's tale or what but explains the scarves!

  17. love this outfit, especially the mix of black and browns. I so want to wear scarves, I think they are so cute and this blanket one is amazing, but I just always feel so bulky around my neck, like I can't breathe. Do you take it off when you go in a restaurant or something, or is it just part of the outfit. I need a scarf how to:)

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and share your thoughts. I love hearing from you!
