rain, rain, go uptown

Earlier in the year I would walk out of the apartment to sunny skies, hop on the train up to UCB and emerge from the subway only to be met with clouds. No sunshine in sight. I made note of it. It seemed that every time I went up town for any reason it would be dark and stormy while downtown was sunny and cloudless. My how the tables have turned. Twice over the last week I have walked outside into the rain only to arrive uptown soaking wet, umbrella in hand to completely dry sidewalks. From the window I've watched several storms sweep across the city, sparing my office and soaking downtown. It's funny how these things happen. The weather really has been odd this year. After having gotten soaked on Saturday or Sunday, I can't remember, since I didn't think rain boots would be necessary, I decided to dress the part for a rainy Tuesday in my Hunter rain boots, black pants, and a loose plaid shirt. And why yes, it wasn't close to raining near my office. But I'd rather be dry and happy than wet, like the dog will be after her bath later today. Wish me luck, she's a scratcher.

  1. I guess better safe and prepared than sorry! I've learned the hard way (through getting caught in numerous unexpected downpours, especially walking from class to class!) to always carry an umbrella. But even if it didn't end up raining near your office that day, you still looked cute! And your hair looks gorgeous in these pictures.

  8. Hasn't the weather just been crazy these past few weeks?! We have had the same spotty weather with mixes of rain and sunshine up in Vermont. But of course I forgot my Hunters at home, so I am having my mom send them up to me at college. Hope the weather starts to improve!

  9. Your outfit is cute, given. However your hair, it looks amazing in the photos. Shiney & with body. Using a new product or like most people, does the damp air make your hair swell?

    1. Thanks! No new products, just b vitamins and a general lack of cooperation. My hair was in the process of uncurling itself due to the wet weather.

  14. Ugh! The same thing happens to me. Storming out where I live, but I get to work and it is dry. Then I look weird wearing my Hunters on such a sunny day. Love that plaid top!

  20. Better safe than sorry!

I had a rainy situation yesterday morning. Woke up to rain, which hasn't happened in far too long in SF, and I was thrilled of course because rain is my favorite. However, it didn't occur to me that maybe SF drivers would go crazy at the sight of water on the ground. To put it simply, I was late to my meeting. Lesson learned: when it rains, leave earlier.

    Happy weekend!
