There is just something about wearing long sleeves with shorts that I love. It most likely stems from the fact that if my arms are cold, it’s over. I can deal with my legs being cold. Ankles and arms are a deal breaker. I can't do it. It’s been so cool all summer that this has been a popular combination for me, and one that I think would also transition nicely into fall. As much as I've been trying to resist, I've been increasingly drawn to darker, less summery colors lately. In fact, I've been debating whether or not it's too early for navy nail polish since last week. It may as well be Autumn in my mind.

I wore this (shorts last seen here) on Saturday for our drive over to Jersey City to attend our friends’ wedding. That was quite the adventure. We must have sat on Spring Street (going three blocks) for at least thirty minutes before we could even turn on to Varick. Clearly, we made a mistake taking that route, though the tunnel traffic was pretty brutal from all angles, a good number of our friends were late due to it. Our trip however began out on the island where my furry little buddy Mischa was adamant about being a part of our photo shoot. She has to be in the mood to have her picture taken. If I brush her hair and put a cute bow in it she wants nothing to do with the camera, but let her rip it out and she’s ready to go. Recently I started using little colored hair ties, which she can take out much easier so we had been going with the sheepdog look all week. Mischa was clearly feeling it because she positioned herself next to me in most of the shots and refused to move out of the frame, but I could never complain about puppy photobombs.

  1. Cute look. Agreed, a bit chilly out, especially this morning. Decided to walk to work & I wish I had a cardigan with me. The cars on Park Ave were whizzing past me, creating even more of a breeze. Lesson learned, time to keep a sweater in my bag.

  2. I'm the same way with shorts and long-sleeved tops- I'd rather be cold on bottom than on top, and once it warms up later in the day, bare legs balance out any warmth from the long sleeves. Love the color of your shirt!

  15. i have always loved shorts with long sleeves, i am the exact same way that my arms need to be covered or else i am cold. it's the weirdest thing because i can wear a long sleeve dress and be fine but jeans and a short sleeve shirt and i will be cold. but at least i am not alone in that quirk!

totally loving the transitional look, the colors are autumn-y but the scallops are sweet and summer-y!

also, that handbag, swoon. if i were you i would find a way to steal it ;)

  27. Love these scalloped tap shorts! They're so versatile and they look extremely comfortable! Ugh...I know what you mean about tunnel traffic. I've experienced it myself a number of times and it's extremely frustrating!
