I've always been a dress girl. I'm told the only reason I started wearing pants was because I decided it got too cold to stand at the kindergarten bus stop in one in the snow. For one reason or another I always feel a little weird wearing casual shorts in the city. Dresses are my go to, especially in the summer. While it is technically not summer just yet (one more week!), temperatures have been high, the humidity uncomfortable, and the weekend traffic heading East, away from the city towards the beaches. This weekend we were lucky enough to get out there and soak up some much needed sun. The weather was just lovely. There is nothing better than a breezy day spent on the beach.
Today I'm teaming up with the lovely Hanna from hannamarielei.com to style one of my favorite summer dresses. For my look I chose a comfortable black shirtdress. I'm a sucker for a shirtdress. It's simple, classic, and can hang in your closet for years without going out of style. I wore this one quite frequently last summer and plan to do the same this one. It originally came with a black cloth belt that ended up being too big so I switched it out for one that actually came with a skirt. I wear the belt more often than I do the skirt. Don't you love it when that happens? Over the weekend I paired it with a matching clutch, red sandals, and a few nautical inspired bracelets.
To see how Hanna styled her pretty lace summer dress (and details on where to find those boots!) be sure to check out her blog here.
Happy Monday and Thank you so much for reading!
I am loving the color of this dress, I know you said it's back but totally looks like a dark olive - and I agree, prefer dresses of shorts for casual days! Have a great Monday!
